From the original readme:

what's been trimmed:
====================

did most of what was recommended in the porting doc. also hacked away all cpu cores except for the normal core, as well as all sound related stuff except for sb/adlib and pcspeaker.

disclaimer:
===========

this release is porovided as is, use at your own risk, i take responsibilty to damage this might cause to you or your phone... you get the idea.

this is a work in progress development build, so don't expect too much...

license:
========

all this (exepct for nokia plugin, see below) should go under GPL (methinks), so while there's no source included, there will be in the future. you should not even contemplate selling or otherwise commercializing the contents of this release.

contents of this release:
=========================

README.TXT		- you're reading it! :-)

dosbox.sisx		- the dosbox installer

dosbox.conf		- sample configuration file

mapper.txt - sample key mapping file

installation instructions:
==========================

(you will probably have to set phone security to accept untrusted packages)

1) install all dependencies (not included in this package)

2) install dosbox

3) edit dosbox.conf: be sure to set your preferred orientation, the location you will install mapper.txt to, and the autoexec.bat section with special respect to the mount command, and whatever you want to launch. (type into the shell is no joy on s60.) (c: drive is the phone's memory, for my e51 the microsd is drive e:)

4) copy dosbox.conf to the /Data directory on you phone's memory (tested), or your storage's (not tested, but should work)

5) copy a dos tree to the appropriate location (as specified for the mount command in the autoexec section of dosbox.conf)

6) edit maper.txt to suit your needs (note the provided example substitutes 'y' for '9', so i can answer the y/n question when "eye of the beholder" starts up)

7) copy mapper.txt to wherever you've specified it in dosbox.conf

notes: you probably need to place your dos dir under /Data. i'm keeping the conf and mapper file and my /dos tree in 'C:/Data' (my phone's memory), and have not tested any other setups. the provided config and mapper file reflect my personal preference for playing eye of the beholder on my e51.

hint: if all you have is your t9 keypad, create numbered .bat files in your dos root dir to launch stuff

key mapping:
============

the provided mapper.txt defines the following keys

0-8: corresponding numbers

9: 'y' key (so i can answer 'yes' at "eye of the beholder" startup to use my mouse

left softie: space

right softie: escape

answert call (greeny): home (but is now hard-coded to toggle virtual mouse mode on/off)

delete: backspace

thumb thingy: arrow keys and enter (when virtual mouse mode is not turned on)

shell:
======

hardcoded the shell to launch in low-res (mcga) mode, so stuff can actually be read. replaced the big welcome message with a smaller one. i'm planning on making this configurable in the near future.

virtual mouse:
==============

use "accept call" button to toggle virtual mouse mode on/off.
use the thumb thingy (i know it has an official name, but i jsut can't remember) to move the mouse.
buttons:
left - the thumb thingy push or [#]
right  - [*]
middle - [0]

cpu cores:
==========

normal core only.

audio:
======

its a bit slow on my e51, to get audio playback without stuttering i had to reduce cycles to 500, but that slowed everything else to a crawl. so for now, don't force it...
